This year's Christmas card

I knew I wanted to use In the Meadow, and white shimmer cardstock. And ofcourse it had to be flat/maileable.

The drift was created by using a glue pen overtop of a diecut and then glitter.  At first I tried a few different colour combos -
blue and pink didn't seem right

traditional red and green was off too -

So I went with neutrals -

The tree was stamped in Shabby shutters, the child in sled in Crumb cake.   The white snowflakes show up when you move the card.

Supplies; stamps - In the Meadow, paper - white shimmer, other - glitter, glue pen.

PTI blog hop - country meadow picnic

This month's PTI blog hop has this image as inspiration:

Immediately I wanted to create something with lots of cream, spring moss and touches of red/pink.

First I stamped the sprig images in versamark and heat embossed, then I loaded up distress inks on a large acrylic block, saturated it with a mister, and then layed it on top of the embossed images.  The patterned paper is my favourite sheet from Botanical by Prima.

Supplies; Stamps - Larger than life, Tag-its #5, Mat stack 1 (sentiment), Paper - cream, Botanical PP (Prima), kraft, Other - Larger than life die, doily details die, Berry sorbet satin ribbon, Antique linen and Shabby shutters distress inks, lace, versamark, clear embossing powder.

Twin's shower

In expectation of my friend's baby shower.

I used the first patterned paper I ever bought -  a retired SU that has a nice heavy weight and texture to it.  I coloured in the 'girl' bear with copics.

Supplies; Stamps - Baby button bits, Everyday button bits, Banner builder, Paper - Soft stone, Parisian breeze PP (SU), white, Other - Tin types impression plate, copics, buttons.

Sponged poppies

I wanted to try an emboss resist card with this Hero Arts stamp, so I stamped text, stamped the poppy image with versamark and heat embossed with clear powder, then sponged distress ink into the unembossed flower areas.  The border happened by accident after sponging - I was going to trim the image, but liked the result.

I so desperately wanted to put a ribbon on the left side, but it was just too much with the small text and flourishes.  I went a little overboard with the flourishes I think.  Ooops, oh well.  Maybe I'll add a double ended banner for the sentiment at the bottom instead.  And a button. So much for my plans for a flat card.  :)

Supplies; Stamps - Poppy background (HA), Fancy flourishes (PTI), BB: Text style, Paper - Spring moss, cream, Other - distress inks, versamark, clear embossing powder.

Twins!

One of my very bestest friends is expecting her first baby - and it's twins!  Boy and girl!  Super exciting, and as I want to make the perfect cards for her, I figured I should start trying some different ones;

I got the idea from the amazing Betsy here.   Oh how I wish I had a sewing machine.  I used a SU set for the elephant images, but all else is PTI.

Girl - lemon tart c/s, lemon tart bitty dot PP, sweet blush c/s, doily details and a wee heart (from little bitty bird).

Boy - spring moss c/s, spring moss bitty dot PP, spring rain c/s, label basics.

3 min card

The dandellion puffs are heat embossed, but that's as fancy as this gets.  :)  It's a 4bar size.

Supples; Stamps - Botanical Silhouettes, Paper - kraft, Other - cream embroidery floss.

Kinda moody

That's the feeling this card makes me think of.  :)

I started off with Curio PP and built everything around it.  I wanted the stamped flowers to come out brown, but the ink turned black on the image and I think it probably turned out better as a result.  I actually decapitated the butterfly a bit as it was just a little too big.  The ribbon is the shade of Pinefeather - not one I thought I'd reach for so soon.

Supplies - Stamps - Delightful dahlia, Envelope pattern, Fancy flourishes, BB: text, Mat stack 1 (sentiments), Paper - Curio PP (Basic grey), Spring moss, Lemon tart, kraft, Other - Love lives here dies, Tag sale die, Delightful dahlia dies (for masking), Tea dye distress ink (TH), Flowers (Prima), Lemon tart button, seam binding (matches Pinefeather).

PTI blog hop - Melon dahlias

The minute I saw the challange photo, I was drawn to the floral pillow.  Although this is such an awesome photo, I've already got two other ideas for future cards!

And here's my card -

A one layer copic card.  The details got washed out a little when I edited the lighting, so here's an unedited version.

I embossed the dahlias is white, then coloured in with R00, R02, R20, YG91 and LOTS of blender pen.  The sentiment is one of my all times most used - from Giga guidelines.

Supplies; Stamps - Delightful dahlias, Giga guidelines (sentiment), Paper - white, Other - copics, white embossing powder.

Palate cleanse

I've been doing a lot of layered cards lately, so I needed something CAS to clear my mind and eye.

I used the strip from Mat stack 1 collection, in two inks, sometimes stamping off once in between.

And a little label popped up.

Supplies; Stamps - Mat stack 1 collection, Label basics, Tag-its 1 (sentiment), Paper - white and kraft.

Usual baby

This is usually the baby card I make if I need one; quick and I like the layout.

In 'boy' or 'girl' colours.

Suppies; Stamps - Nursery necessities, alphabet wheel, Paper - kraft, cream, Other - twine, eyelet, markers.

Flower bouquet

With my new dies!  I had fun arranging the flowers 'just so'.  The flowers were coloured in with markers so I could add different shades (mainly on the leaves).

Supplies; Stamps - Larger than life, Postmarks, Paper - White, Bitty dot spring moss PP, Botanicals (Prima), Soft stone, Other - Larger than life dies, Mat stack 4 die, SU markers, pink seam binding ribbon.

Make it mondays: pocket card

When I saw this this evening, I just had to make one.  Such an inspiring, fun challenge!

I wanted to use the Roadtrip PP, and to echo it with, Melon berry, cream and kraft with some brown accents.  Please excuse the maligned versamark dots on the pocket - it was too late to start over.  The lines around the sentiment are from the Labels basics set, again, a little crooked.

I used the little leaf from Postmarks to make my own 'Tag its'  :)

Supplies: Stamps - BB: Polka dots 2, Postmarks, Label basics, Mat stack 2, Tiny tags, Paper - Roadtrip PP, Melon berry, cream, kraft, Other - Doily details dies, Large scallop border die, Melon berry bitty dot satin ribbon, Chocolate button.

Dad's garden

A card for my Dad - a man who reads voraciously, and not unlike how he eats berries from his garden too.

It's almost a one layer card, and that's how my Dad likes them.  Anything extra would be seen as silly.  So, patterened paper stamped with images from Garden variety (with a little bit of masking), and a sentiment.

Supplies; Stamps - Garden variety, In a Garden (IO), Paper - Botanical (Prima), Fine linen.

Colourful tiny tags

I got the idea for the tag here.

I wanted a purple card to try out a new ink (Ranger Milled lavender), cardstock (Lavender moon) and ribbon (Plum pudding).

Supplies; Stamps - YOF mini, Giga guidelines, Paper - Lavender moon, white, vellum, Other - Tiny tags die, Parisian doily die, Edgers #2 die, Plum pudding satin ribbon, cream embroidery floss.

PTI blog hop - colourful and girly

The minute I saw the challenge for this month's PTI blog hop (here), I knew what I wanted to do - one of those increadibly unmailable, glue gun necessitating, huge ribbon cards.  I've never made one before, and it was fun!

Here's a closeup on the ribbons.  They are all scraps from our wedding gifts almost 8 years ago!   The white has a wire running on the long edges and is really sparkly.  The medallion is Tag-its #1 with the scallop circle die from Love lives here overtop.

I got the idea for the background from Nichole's countdown post this past month.  I used copics R02, R22, RV14, R85 and then the other way.

One more shot of the 3D ribbon cluster.

Supplies; Stamps - Tag-its #1, Love lives here, Fillable frame #6 (sentiment), Paper - Raspberry fizz, cream, Other - Love lives here die, 1 3/4'' circle punch, copics, assorted ribbons.

Love birds

A card I made a long time ago.  Need to pull out that set again!

Stamps; Urban prarie (BG), Paper - Urban prarie (BG), Old olive, white, Other - half pearls, scallop scallop punch.

Map copic

I had a fun time matching up copics for a vintage map look.  I wanted to do the water in blue, but it was too bright.  YG91 was a good 'cacky' match.  The edges are inked with Tea die distress ink.

I put an eyelet through the compass and wrapped some twine through it.  That's about as much 'dimension' as I can get away with for males in my family.  :)

Supplies; Stamps - map (unknown rubber stamp), Paper - kraft, cream, vellum, Other - copics, distress ink, eyelet, twine.

Fruit market cherries

I wanted to evoke a fruit stand, with brown crates, colourful fruit and dusty paper used to tally up the purchases.

So, kraft paper, distressed edges and a bit of colour.  I haven't filled in the sentiment box yet, but it will probably be a 'thank you'.  :)

Supplies; Stamps - Everyday button bits, Label Basics, Ledger (HA), Paper - kraft, cream, dark chocolate, scarlet jewel,  Library ledger PP, Bitty dots PP, Other - Limitless Layers Circles 1 3/4'', distress ink, scarlet jewel and melon berry buttons.

Copic-ed poppies

This took awhile, as colouring in a negative image with Copics is a bit challenging.  Without black lines to stay in between, it's very easy to wobble the red out.

I used a text background stamp with versamark on the background paper (Soft stone) (it didn't show up very well on the photos).

Supplies; Stamps - Poppy background (Hero arts), BB: Textstyle, Paper - Soft stone, white, Other - copics, white satin ribbon, versamark.

4 bar!

I've only learned about '4 bar' cards recently - they are 3.5 x5''.  The inspiration for the cards is from here.  I like the originals much better than my CASE's, but I wanted to try them in colour.  There will be a greeting on the lower right, just over the bottom flourish.

This one is a Lemon tart base with Harvest gold doily.

This one is a Melon berry base with a Berry sorbet doily.

And finally a Plum pudding base with Royal velvet scallop circle.

Supplies; Stamps - YOF Collection, Fancy flourishes, Other - Doily details dies, Limitless Layers 1 3/4'' dies, copics.

Orange + Fizz

When I'm craving colour in my cards, this is my go to combination.  It's just happy happy happy.  The card is for a wedding shower.

I wanted to use a few of my 'older' stamp sets, and this card is CASEd from somewhere in different colours.
The base cardstock is from my LSS, it's bright mango-ey and matches Memento's Cantaloupe ink well.  I stamped dots in versamark on it.  The ribbon is from my scrap box.  The stems are done in brown for a bit more modern look.

Supplies; Stamps - Everyday button bits, Polka dot basics 2, Paper - unknown, Other; Raspberry fizz buttons, Melon berry buttons, versamark, satin ribbon.
