Scalloped mat (and more purple)

I saw someone use the Mat stack die to echo one of the large scallops, so wanted to try it.

I was also trying to find images that fit onto Mat stack 2 die as I don't have the stamp set (yet).  The little 'x' from BB: Retro did the trick.  The inside was dotted with a white gel pen.  I coloured in the hearts with a violet copic.  V01 maybe?

Supplies; Stamps - BB: Retro, BB: Hearts, Fillable frames #1 (sentiment), Paper - Plum pudding, Lavender moon, cream, Other - Large scallop die, Mat stack 2 die, Milled lavender distress ink, versamark pad, white gel pen, copics, brown satin ribbon.

PTI blog hop - embroidery floss

Papertrey Ink's blog hop theme this month is to use embroidery floss.  I haven't tried this before, so I looked forward to the challenge!

The floss was weaved (just by hand) through the holes of the die, then tied. I looped it around and then used a smidgen of hot glue to fix it into place. I was hoping to have the new Tiny tags dies/stamps by now, so just image a little tag dangling from the floss.

The card evolved over awhile actually - I had gotten the heart and musicsheet background stamps a few months ago, and had stamped a bunch of paper with them in anticipation of using later.  Then I got the Parisian lace doily die with the February release, and decided I wanted to see it in hot pink, and so the rest of the card all sort of fell together from there.

The leaves were stamped with grey, the flower punched out of patterned paper, and the circle mat is also stamped with a delicate background stamp (envelope pattern).

Enjoy the rest of the hop - I know I will!

Supplies; Stamps - BB: Music Sheet, BB: Hearts, Envelope Pattern, Turning a New Leaf, Delightful dahlia (sentiment), Paper - Lemon tart, Raspberry fizz, cream, Bittersweet PP (Basic grey), Other - Parisian lace doily die, Limitless labels 1 3/4'' circle dies, Boho blooms flower punch (SU), cream embroidery floss.

Purple mail

A lovely person on the forum sold me the letter bundle stamp, and I've been paper piecing contentedly ever since.  Here are two similar cards.   I wanted to use my new paper too - Royal Velvet, so the colour scheme went on the purple side of things. I got the idea for the ribbon and flower image from here.

The first one is more 'clean'.

And the second a bit more distressed.  Love the new Hero arts background!

Supplies; Stamps - Friendship jar spring fillers, Vintage postcard (unity), Envelope pattern background (Hero arts), Candid flower (Penny black), Notebook (Prima), Paper - Royal velvet, cream, kraft, Webster's pages PP, Other - Edgers #2 die, Tea dye distress ink, Boho flowers punch, Limitless layers 1 3/4'' die, copics, Royal velvet and Sweet blush satin ribbon.

Betsy-esque

Like the multitude of papercrafters out there, Betsy Veldman is what I would love to be when I grow up.  Here's a card I  made which tried to emulate some of her style; bright colour combinations, stitching (faux in my case), layers with inked edges.  I am quite pleased with the result!

After posting this I realized it also qualifies for this week Make It Mondays - adding colour to non-neutral cardstock!

The dahlias were diecut from dotted patterned paper.  I realized why I haven't been using this set as often as I should - the larger leaf shape was throwing me off!  I much prefer the smaller one for this many cut outs on an A2 card.

Also, as a mistake, I diecut the wrong side of the paper, so the stamp and die didn't line up perfectly - but I actually like this better!  I shaded the Bitty dot paper with a Hibiscus burst copic.

Supplies; Stamps - Delightful dahlia, Everyday button bits, Paper - Lemon tart, Jubilee PP, Bitty dot 2009 PP, Spring moss, cream, Other - Lemon tart, Aqua mist and Spring blush buttons, Dahlia die, Tea dye distress ink, copics, Scallop scallop punch, paper piercer, SU creamy caramel marker.

Madame butterfly

Going to package up a gift of a theatre ticket with this card -

I stamped BB: Musicsheet with a light yellow, then the butterflies in black and coloured in with copics.  I went over the butterflies with T1 a few times to make the pink more muted.   I love this stampset I got from my LSS - Songbirds.  So many vintagey images.  Something so nice about stamping with rubber stamps.

I coloured in the lace with a black marker.  The middle image has glitter around it (like a theatre display).

The background popped a bit more when I distressed the edges of the cardstock.

Supplies; Stamps - Songbirds (Tweety Jill), BB: Music sheet (PTI), lacey medallion (Sparkle n' sprinkle), Ink - Memento black and London fog, Antique linen distress, black SU marker, copics (sweet blush, T1), Lemon tart, Paper - Fine linen, cream, Sweet blush, Other - lace (SU), Mat stack #4 die, topaz glitter.

Trying vintage

...and my new dies!

I have been cutting out doilies like a mad woman.  And strangely, I find pushing out the little holes by hand very satisfying.

They are both 5.5'' square card.  The layout on the second is a little off, next time I'd mat the labels die cut and move the charm closer to it.  Overall I'm happy with my first tries at 'vintaged-up' cards.

Supplies; Stamps - Song birds (Tweety Jill), Giga guidelines, Fancy flourishes, Paper - Ocean tides, cream, white, Spring Moss, Patterned paper (Webster's pages), Ink - Brown, versamark, Crumb cake, markers (SU), Antique linen, copic, Other - Parisian doily die, Edgers #2 die, Mat stack #1 die, Labels 1 die, lace, twine, charms, 1/8'' silk ribbon, gold embossing powder.
