Channelling my inner perfectionist

With some background stamping.  Good thing the image is large.  I just adore the Giga guidelines set.  Definitely one of my favourites.  Makes quick CAS cards a snap!

I embossed the sentiment with black ink.

Supplies; Stamps - Giga guidelines, Paper - white, Other - embossing powder, corner rounder.

PTI blog hop - floral

Is there a better theme than that?  I don't think so!

I started by stamping BB: textstyle in antique linen distress ink.  Then I diecut blooms and played around with placement.  The flowers were sponged with some barn door distress ink (I would have rather a pink tone but don't own any - hmmm... should remedy that ;)  Then I stamped the leaves, attached the flower heads and turned them up a bit, and added faux stitching.

My first try with seam binding - I scrunched a little too much I think.  A button and Tiny tag to finish.

Am SO very excited for this hop.  I can't wait to see everyone's creations!

Supplies; Stamps - BB: Textstyle, Turning a new leaf, Tiny tags, Postmarks (flourish on tag), Paper - kraft, cream, sweet blush, Other - Beautiful blooms #3 die, Tiny tags die, kraft seam binding (thank you Mary!!), sping moss button, distress inks, half pearls.

Things that make me happy

...in cardmaking, as opposed to real life, or else I'd have a much longer post on my hands!  (I published this once before but it got deleted while blogger was down.)

Happy things - blossoms, tiny tags, and using itty bitty little stamps (like the bee from Postmarks).

The image panel is rustic cream, with a bunch of stamps layered on it.  The blooms coloured in with copics.  They make me pretty happy too.  The tag is wrapped around with a silk ribbon I ripped in half.

Supplies; Stamps - Cherry blossom (Flourishes), Tiny Tags, Song birds, Postmarks, Paper - Curio PP (Basic Grey), text (making memories), chocolate, rustic cream, Other - Tiny tags die, 1/8'' silk ribbon, copics, lace.

Cherry blossom obsession

I have a slight obsession with cherry blossoms.  The real things ofcourse, but stamps/paper/photos also.  I act irrationally (ie. hoard, buy compulsively) anything related to this amazing bloom.  And with that intro, are two cards (blossom stamps by Flourishes) -

There was a bit of an 'oops' technique with this one.  After colouring in with copics, I wanted to add some glitter, but in my mad excitement over the blossom, I accidentally sprinkled embossing powder instead (and rather thickly).  So I decided to heat emboss, and then add glitter.  The result is dewy slightly dimensional glitter.

The card is for a dear friend who's going through some major life changes and moving across the country to figure it all out.

The next I decided to make the blossoms more of a background.  The copics I used for these are T1 and E50, and here I used glossy accents for a dewy look.

This reminds me of that 'botanical collage' technique Betsy Veldman showed once (tried to find link but was not successful).

I think either would make a great mother's day card too.

Supplies; Stamps - Cherry blossoms (Flourishes), Ledger (Hero Arts), Song birds (Tweety Jill), Postmarks (PTI), Label basics (PTI), Paper - Sweet blush, cream, rustic cream, Other - copics, postage die, Fine linen buttons, 1/8'' silk ribbon, glitter, glossy accents.

Picnic plaid

 I can't help it - every time I see gingham, I think picnic blanket, regardless of the colour.  So - a picnic plaid card today (ink Pear Tart by Memento), complete with butterflies;

The patterned paper is called Madelaine from Prima, and it's my most favourite paper yet! Such a fun colour palette.  I overstamped the border with a Label basics frame.

Supplies; Stamps - Gingham (Impression obsession), Label basics, Tiny tags, Paper - Fine linen, white, Madelaine PP, Other - Ocean tides felt, Hawaiian shores buttons, Love lives here die, white satin ribbon, 1/8'' silk ribbon.

Little TY parcels

A thank you card for one of my daughter's friends.   I used a glassine bag and adjusted the card size accordingly (it came out to be about 4.5 x 3.5'').

Love how the card peaks out.  And the glassine bag + baker's twine is just meant to be, in bakeries or otherwise.  ;)

This is the inside.

Supplies; Stamps - Envelope pattern (Hero Arts), Tiny Treats, Paper - Graphic 45 PP, Spring rain, kraft, Other - Dark chocolate baker's twine, medium glassine bag, Tiny treats die.

Doily and bitty dots

This is a CASE, but I don't remember where I saw it!  I loved the combination of pink, melon dot ribbon and white doily.

Am going to use this as a congrats on a pregnancy.  There's something about bitty dot ribbon that makes me think of babies.

Supplies; Stamps - unknown, Paper - Sweet blush, white, Other; Parisian lace doily die, Melon berry bitty dot ribbon.

All soft and white

I've been meaning to make a card like this for awhile - all soft and creams/whites.

The background mat is a gold shimmer cardstock, and it's impressed with In Bloom folder.  The doily was cut out of vellum.  The background stamp with roses is from Impression Obsession.   Lots of distress ink for the edges.

This is my first time using Tiny Tags - eek, so cute and fun!

Supplies; Stamps; Background roses, Tiny Tags, Paper - vellum, cream, shimmer, Other; Parisian doily die, Tiny Tags die, In Bloom impression plate, Antique linen distress ink, cream satin ribbon, 1/8'' silk ribbon.

PTI blog hop - masculine

I decided my play before the card happened was nice enough to warrant a photo too.  :)

Love, love the Postmarks set.  As you see from the above play session, I went with greys and blues.

The 'post' is from Postmarks, minus the 'card'.  The blue highlighting outline is from Label basics stamped on the reverse side.  The 'birthday' is from Giga guidelines.  And the background is a Tim Holtz stamp, repeatedly stamped off.  Lots of sponging around the edges, first in grey, then black.

I used markers to colour in the wings.  And not many embellishments as fitting for a masculine card.

Supplies; Stamps - Postmarks, Labels basics, Giga guidelines, Tim Holtz twiggy background, Paper - white, kraft, Other - postage stamp die.
