New goodies & MIM selective inking in a sea of blue

I picked up my December release goodies at the post office after work, so I had to play with them quick before bed (hence the patterned paper)!

I used selective inking for the sentiments (didn't ink up the period at the end) as in one of the Make it mondays challenges.  I angled the stamp on the block and then smooshed it a bit when making the impression, so it's not perfect.

I used the In the meadow snow drift die for the sentiment, and after finding this amazing button I had to use it.  I snipped some saddle stitch ribbon to make leaves.

Supplies; Stamps - Mat stack collection 1 (sentiment), Paper - Aqua mist, Hawaiian shores, Memory box PP Jubilee, white, Other - In the meadow die, Filigree border die, Pure poppy button, Spring moss saddle stitch ribbon.

Favourites of 2011

***Edited to say: something happened with my blog linking up with picasa, which I had not noticed before, and I deleted the photos meant for here.  :(

After starting a new job in August my cardmaking (or rather posting) took a bit of a break, but nonetheless, here are my favourites that I posted from 2011 -

Now off to see the others!

This year's Christmas card

I knew I wanted to use In the Meadow, and white shimmer cardstock. And ofcourse it had to be flat/maileable.

The drift was created by using a glue pen overtop of a diecut and then glitter.  At first I tried a few different colour combos -
blue and pink didn't seem right

traditional red and green was off too -

So I went with neutrals -

The tree was stamped in Shabby shutters, the child in sled in Crumb cake.   The white snowflakes show up when you move the card.

Supplies; stamps - In the Meadow, paper - white shimmer, other - glitter, glue pen.

PTI blog hop - country meadow picnic

This month's PTI blog hop has this image as inspiration:

Immediately I wanted to create something with lots of cream, spring moss and touches of red/pink.

First I stamped the sprig images in versamark and heat embossed, then I loaded up distress inks on a large acrylic block, saturated it with a mister, and then layed it on top of the embossed images.  The patterned paper is my favourite sheet from Botanical by Prima.

Supplies; Stamps - Larger than life, Tag-its #5, Mat stack 1 (sentiment), Paper - cream, Botanical PP (Prima), kraft, Other - Larger than life die, doily details die, Berry sorbet satin ribbon, Antique linen and Shabby shutters distress inks, lace, versamark, clear embossing powder.

Twin's shower

In expectation of my friend's baby shower.

I used the first patterned paper I ever bought -  a retired SU that has a nice heavy weight and texture to it.  I coloured in the 'girl' bear with copics.

Supplies; Stamps - Baby button bits, Everyday button bits, Banner builder, Paper - Soft stone, Parisian breeze PP (SU), white, Other - Tin types impression plate, copics, buttons.

Sponged poppies

I wanted to try an emboss resist card with this Hero Arts stamp, so I stamped text, stamped the poppy image with versamark and heat embossed with clear powder, then sponged distress ink into the unembossed flower areas.  The border happened by accident after sponging - I was going to trim the image, but liked the result.

I so desperately wanted to put a ribbon on the left side, but it was just too much with the small text and flourishes.  I went a little overboard with the flourishes I think.  Ooops, oh well.  Maybe I'll add a double ended banner for the sentiment at the bottom instead.  And a button. So much for my plans for a flat card.  :)

Supplies; Stamps - Poppy background (HA), Fancy flourishes (PTI), BB: Text style, Paper - Spring moss, cream, Other - distress inks, versamark, clear embossing powder.
